My Go-To Makeup Routine in 5 Easy Steps

So I wanted to chat with you all about some of my everyday beauty basics. First off, let me preface this by saying how I truly have a love-hate relationship with makeup. I love it because I need it! I hate it because I much prefer the feeling of a clean face and hate the idea of taking time for a long makeup routine. That being said, this is my 5 minute face-do that I’ve found is the perfect everyday look for the minimalist out there!

1 – Concealer

Invest in a healthy, moisturizing, high quality concealer. I always start with a concealer to hide everything unwanted (dark circles, blemishes, etc). Right now I love NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Biscuit, but I’ve also used Beauty Counter Dew Skin Moisturizing Coverage. I only apply this where needed and use a sponge to blend in.

2 – Full Face Powder

Next, I apply a soft bronzer. I like to use a product such as Sephora’s MicroSmooth in Medium. This powder contains a slight shimmer and isn’t too far off from my skin tone. I want just enough color to make my face come to life and not look so pasty, but I don’t want my face to look a different color from my body. Being biracial, this is a product I definietly  have to change up between summer vs. winter shades for my drastic change in skin tone between seasons. I like to finish with a little blush especially in winter months when I don’t have a glow going on. I live by Mac’s Dolly Mix. It is a subtle deep pink that adds just enough color to without overdoing it!

3 – Anastasia Brow Wiz in Ebony

Holy amazing! I never really invested time into filling in my eyebrows until recently, and man what a difference it makes. I LOVE Anastasia’s Brow Wiz because it looks SO natural and is so easy to use. I can pencil it on in a rush and never fear I look like the lady with psychotic eyebrows. It is a bit pricey, but if you’re like me it’ll last you a while.

4 – All About The Eyes!

I don’t know if it’s just me, but I feel like when I “put on my eyes” I look 100% less tired! I prefer a liquid pencil liner as I find it is the easiest to apply! I use L’Oreal Extra Intense Liquid Pencil in Black. The mascara I just love is Marc Jacobs Major Volume in Noir. If I’m getting really fancy (aka wearing eyeshadow on occasion) I only use the Naked 3 palette. It has such soft, natural tones that easily compliment any outfit and keep that fresh look I like to achieve.

5 – A Little Lip Pop!

Lastly, I need something on my lips to make them have some sort of pop and again, help prevent that washed out look! Right now I love NARS PowerMatte Lip Pigment in Save the Queen. I also use the matching lip liner by NARS as well. I’ve also used a generic tinted gloss in the past when I’m on-the-go or grabbing whatever was left in my purse from a previous event.

While it’s not always easy to find the time to put on makeup, I hope this easy guide works for those like me who want to keep a natural look, while making sure they don’t scare everyone they come in contact with during the day!
