Transforming Our Home with Vadara Quartz

When we decided to transform our single-family suburban home into a multi-generational living space, we knew we wanted materials that would stand the test of time while providing both beauty and functionality. Vadara Quartz became the cornerstone of our renovation project, bringing elegance and durability to our new spaces. We first were introduced to Vadara Quartz when we happened to select it for our main kitchen during our original home renovation in 2017. From there we fell in love with the product, and brand, and regretted not selecting it for the bathrooms during the initial renovation. Fast forward to 2024, and once we knew we would need countertops throughout the project – we immediately thought of Vadara Quartz.

The Vision: Creating Space for Everyone

Our renovation journey began with a clear vision: add 1,000 square feet to our main floor to create a semi-independent living space for my mom to move into with us, while also expanding our upstairs by 500 square feet to create the primary suite we’d always dreamed of, and that would help to mirror the level of finishes throughout the rest of our home. The challenge was significant – we weren’t just adding rooms; we were creating distinct living spaces that had to feel cohesive with the existing home while serving different needs and preferences.

The Ground Floor Expansion: Function Meets Beauty

The ground-floor addition included a full kitchen, a large butler’s pantry that connected the new living space with our existing home, a dedicated laundry room, one spacious bedroom, and a bathroom. We wanted these spaces to be practical but also reflect quality craftsmanship.

For the new kitchen, we selected Vadara Quartz for the countertops in the pattern called Terra Vista. This is a stunning poanazzo calacatta marble-inspired quartz, featuring a white, tan and grey background with flowing beige, grey, and rust veining. It is subtle and can make both warm and cool tones feel natural next to one another with it’s ability to bring together both tones.

Quartz offered a perfect marriage of luxurious appearance and practical benefits:

  • Stunning visual appeal: The natural stone-like appearance brought an upscale aesthetic
  • Remarkable durability: Resistant to scratches, heat, and stains – essential for a busy kitchen
  • Hygienic surface: Non-porous material that prevents bacterial growth
  • Low maintenance: No sealing required, unlike natural stone options

The butler’s pantry, which connects the new kitchen to the existing home, also features Vadara Quartz countertops in a finish called Moon Valley. Here, the material’s durability truly shines as this transitional space handles everything from food prep to serving as a coffee station and wet bar. This vibrant and bold pattern is an absolute show stopper, and we centered the more bold portion of the slab directly above the sink to create beautiful drama that seamlessly tied in our floors and cabinets.

Upstairs Transformation: A Retreat to Call Our Own

The 500-square-foot upstairs addition transformed our living experience completely. We now have a spacious primary suite with his-and-her closets and an upstairs laundry room that eliminated countless trips up and down stairs with laundry baskets.

The crown jewel of this addition is undoubtedly the primary bathroom. Here, Vadara Quartz takes center stage on the vanity countertops. We utilized the same soft, veined pattern as we did in Mom’s kitchen which mimics marble but without maintenance concerns. The bathroom has become our personal sanctuary, with the quartz surfaces adding a sense of luxury that makes even routine mornings feel special. The material’s water-resistant properties make it ideal for the bathroom environment. We previously had marble in our bathroom and between water stains and makeup, it was my biggest regret. I knew with this bathroom renovation that I wanted a durable and low-maintenance material.

In our laundry room I wanted to do something a little different. So I went with white cabinets, but brought in a dramatic dark quartzite-inspired quartz, featuring a two-toned dark grey background with subtle white veining. We went with a very similar look for my mom’s newly added laundry room as well to make them feel consistent, but not identical. This style is referred to as Petra Grigio.

Why Vadara Quartz Made the Difference

Looking back at our renovation journey, several factors made Vadara Quartz the right choice for our multi-generational home:

  1. Consistent quality across applications: From kitchen counters to bathroom vanities, the material performed beautifully in different settings.
  2. Design versatility: The wide range of colors and patterns allowed us to create distinct looks for different spaces while maintaining a cohesive overall design language.
  3. Long-term value: The durability and timeless appeal made it an investment in our home’s future.
  4. Practical benefits for multi-generational living: With family members of different ages using the spaces, having surfaces that resist staining, scratching, and bacterial growth became even more important.
