Restaurant Review: Fúdo

Happy Wednesday friends! Today I wanted to share with you the newest restaurant to make its way to our family’s “favorite dining destinations” – Fúdo, Atlanta’s newest sushi hot spot!

About Fúdo

Located in Chamblee, this new restaurant is quickly becoming a neighborhood favorite. My husband and I had the pleasure of trying out Fúdo for the first time last weekend. When we arrived the friendly manager Johanes greeted us and sat us in two cozy seats at the bar. Our waiter then came over and got us started with some drinks. Jordan ordered the Old Fashioned, and I ordered the Dancing with the Stars – both were outstanding! The attention to detail really made the Old Fashioned special. The drink had layers of flavors; from the cinnamon stick that had been coated with caramelized sugar, to the smoke flavor infusion that also creates a very unique presentation – You’ll definitely want to give this drink a shot when you dine.

We ordered the cauliflower with chili miso sauce and an order of assorted tempura. The cauliflower was so tasty, and the tempura light and crispy! We got to try their salmon and striped bass ceviche which will make its debut on their summer menu. It’s fantastic and was one of our favorite dishes of the day. We then ordered four rolls thinking we both would need two per person. Holy cow, they were so filling and so delicious. Definitely how sushi should be served! We tried A Star is Born, Smokey Delicacy, The Escape roll, and Rock Paper Shrimp.

The Escape roll was certainly one to write home about. It’s a sushi roll you will talk about after you’ve left, and want to come back for more. This roll is a showstopper in both appearance and taste. They only make about 10 of these rolls per day as it is made with black squid ink rice cooked up daily in-house.

Our absolute favorite was the Rock Paper Shrimp “roll” which isn’t quite a roll but multiple bite size pieces. Each piece is made up of a crunchy Korean rice cake, shredded crab meat, and a flavorful piece of shrimp topping it off.

Overall we had a wonderful experience at Fúdo. The staff was delightful, the atmosphere inviting, and the food and drinks were highly memorable. I hope you go to check them out soon and let me know what you get when you visit!
