Last year in 2020 my mom celebrated a huge birthday milestone. Her 60th Birthday! We were so excited to have a special trip planned with friends and family to celebrate until that was unfortunately canceled due to the pandemic. Since we didn’t get to celebrate her 60th as planned, I knew we had to do something special for her birthday this year!
When I got on Pinterest I saw so many ideas and couldn’t quite figure out what I wanted, but I knew it had to involve good food, good company, and a beautiful setting. I loved the idea of an elegant outdoor picnic dinner party. I first reached out to La Fete Picnic Co and asked for them to put together a bespoke, intimate dinner setting on our screened porch. The balloons, by Balloons by Brittany, finished the space transforming it from a screened porch to a beautiful oasis.
It turned out gorgeous with the coral, gold, and neutral tones. We complimented the decor with a fantastic meal by JDR Catering Co. The dinner menu consisted of the following.
Appetizers: Toasted Walnut Pesto Salad, smoked salmon and dill mousse on cucumber, and prosciutto and basil wrapped melon with balsamic glaze.
Entree: Petite Fillet with blue cheese walnut butter, Pecan Crusted Tilapia with a bourbon brown butter sauce, Wild Rice Pilaf, Brandied Sweet Potatoes.
It was absolutely amazing! I highly suggest JDR Catering Co. if you are looking for someone in or around Atlanta, GA. For dessert we had to have a treat from our favorite baker, The Constant Baker. Maggie from The Constant Baker made delicious rum cake cupcakes topped with vanilla buttercream and garnished with gorgeous dried rose petals.
